Why This Reference Exists
Tennessee public-record access does not mean every record is posted in one searchable place. In Morgan County, the sheriff’s office may be the custodian for a jail booking record, the arresting agency may hold the incident report, and the court clerk may hold the later public case record. A person in the Tennessee Department of Correction FOIL locator may be in state custody or supervision, not necessarily in Morgan County Jail.
